Imperative Cuts Vol. 3 : Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Campaign’

With no frontrunner as of yet in the upcoming election, Ty Dolla $ign gives us a reason to vote for him. His first full length album Free TC was a major critical success. Although the numbers don’t necessarily show it (30k+ first week), the album is considered one of the best hip-hop projects of the recent past. That’s why I had both good and bad feelings when Ty announced his follow-up LP Campaign. Could he produce the same success on another project? Would he move too much towards the mainstream audience? Well, any doubts that I had, he laid them to rest. Ty delivers another great project that brings both fun, upbeat tracks along with the smooth R&B jams. From his Beach House mixtapes, to his two label releases, Dolla $ign has solidified himself as a mainstay in the hip-hop game. Check out the three must-listen to tracks from the project.

OVERALL GRADE: B+

Juice

A fun, upbeat track with a hook that will be stuck in your head for days.

Stealing

Ty Dolla $ign’s vocals with Ty Dolla $ign lyrics over an acoustic guitar. Should I say more?
